Vietnam

To the east, the presence of the South China Sea forms the entire eastern border of Vietnam. Additionally, land borders in the west are formed by both Laos and Cambodia. To the north, the country shares a land border with China and in the southwest corner there is a border with the Gulf of Thailand. The Vietnamese first achieved independence from Imperial China in 939 AD. After nearly a 1000 years of independence, the French colonists arrived in the mid-19th Century. They were finally run out of the country in 1954. Unfortunately, the Americans would arrive soon afterwards. The catastrophic result would be the second Indochina war which would last until 1975. My Vietnam travel adventure is a based in culture, adventure and also the solemn experience of visiting the war memorials such as Cu Chi Tunnels.
