Giant Sand Dune Photos and Facts

View my unique giant sand dune photos and facts that I have posted in the travel links below. My encounters with the giant sand dunes occurred primarily in Namib Desert Namibia, Altyn Emel Kazakhstan and Bao Trang Vietnam.

The giant sand dunes I encountered were predominantly the barchan sand dunes and star dunes. The barchan sand dunes are mobile in contrast with the star dunes that are stationary.  As a result the star dunes can grow extremely large such as at Sossusvlei Namibia where they reach up to 375 meters in height. Please see my giant star sand dune photos in the Sossusvlei post below.

The barchan sand dunes that I encountered were primarily located near Luderitz Namibia. They are mobile and therefore do not grow as large as the star sand dunes. Please see my barchan sand dune photos below in the Luderitz post.

I have also included a collection of giant sand dune photos from Altyn Emel National Park in Kazakhstan and Bao Trang Sand dunes in Vietnam
