Get the US E-2 Visa Five Year Term
Successful applicants of the Grenada citizenship program are eligible to apply for the five year renewable US E-2 visa. If successful, visa holders can live and work in the United States of America with their spouse and children under 21 years of age.
To be clear, the initial five year visa term is renewable indefinitely in two year increments provided the E-2 visa qualifications are maintained. When the initial term is near expiration, to renew for the two year term, simply leave the US and reenter on the E-2 visa. You will receive a two year renewal stamp.
So is the initial E-2 visa term two years or five years? The answer is both, depending on where you submit your application. You may indeed secure the advantage of an initial 5 year term, provided you follow the correct procedure.
The solution is to apply for the E-2 visa from outside the US at your local US consulate. Do not apply from inside the US, as a result, your initial term will be five years instead of the shorter two year term.
In addition, the longer five year term requires that investors hold citizenship in a country (such as Grenada) which has an E-2 treaty with the United States. This is in contrast with disadvantaged E-2 Treaty countries such as Montenegro with only one year terms.
If you apply for the visa from inside the US it will be necessary to go through the United States Citizenship Immigration Services (USCIS). Unfortunately, as noted on the USCIS website, the USCIS officials only grant the shorter two year initial term. If possible, be sure to apply from outside the US as noted above. Grenada E-2 Treaty Status with US Government
Grenada is one of only 70 countries with which the US maintains a treaty of commerce and navigation (E-2 Treaty). As a result, Grenada citizens are eligible for the US E-2 visa which provides significant advantages for those who wish to live and work inside the US but they are from countries such as India that have long suffered from political obstacles blocking their US immigration.
How else can Indian nationals escape immigration backlogs? The answer is Grenada citizenship. Additionally, it is not necessary to be born a Grenada citizen. Indeed, those who acquire Grenada citizenship by investment also qualify.
What advantages does Grenada have over other countries? First, you must hold a passport from an E-2 country to be eligible. Once you get the right passport from an E-2 Treaty country you can qualify. However, not all of the E-2 treaty countries were created equal.
Disadvantage of Poor US Treaty Relations
For example, Turkey is an E-2 Treaty country that does not have good relations with the US. Since Turkey does not have friendly relations with the US government, Turkish citizens who have entered the US on a Turkish E-2 visa may be at risk. In addition, they are exposed to collateral risk associated with the Turkish citizenship program.
Likewise, Pakistan is another example of an E-2 Treaty country with poor US diplomatic relations. Just because they are an E-2 Treaty country, does not mean it is a secure option.
On the other hand, Grenada is a politically neutral country that is very unlikely to ever antagonize the US. Additionally, Grenada allows the US to assist with oversight of their citizenship program, which keeps their Grenada E-2 Visa eligibility in good standing.
How to get Grenada Citizenship
To qualify for Grenada citizenship, investors can purchase government approved real estate for a minimum of US$220,000 or make a non-refundable contribution of US$150,000 to the National Transformation Fund.
The result is the same, which gives you the Grenada passport with E-2 eligibility. However, as an investment alternative, real estate allows you to recoup your investment capital at the end of the five year holding period. Therefore, you can sell the property to a new citizenship applicant while retaining Grenada citizenship and the E-2 visa in perpetuity.
Earn a 4-5% Investment Yield
In addition to the investment, investors must have a clean background, verifiable source of funds and health certificate. The application forms with supporting documents must be completed and submitted to the government.

However, successful applicants of the Grenada citizenship program will also qualify for Grenada tax residency. Indeed, you could split your time between the US and Grenada. Use the advantage of proper tax planning. Therefore, Grenada citizenship in combination with the E-2 Visa allows you to be free from global income tax.
In addition, your family, your future and your wealth are fully protected from the unexpected. To be clear, anything is possible during a global pandemic. Global travel restrictions, lost employment and inflation are a few unfortunate examples of what is to come. Grenada citizenship benefits allow you build your Plan B to protect future generations.

Grenada E-2 Visa Benefits vs. US EB-5 Visa
The Grenada E-2 visa offers significant advantages over competing programs such as the US EB-5 immigrant visa. For example, the E-2 is a non-immigrant visa as compared to the EB-5 which is an immigrant visa. As we learned with the Trump administration, immigrant visas are more susceptible to political instability inside the US.
In addition, the minimum requirement for the E-2 business investment is over 70% less than the lowest minimum EB-5 investment required. See the full benefit comparison table below.
